I needed to find out why some of the names in my address book are appearing
first name, last name and why some are appearing last name, first name with
no rhyme or reason. All names are in contacts to be filed as last name,
first name. Is there a way to correct this? It also happens when I print
labels, etc, some are last name, first name and some are first name, last
name. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

First you must provide some actual information. Outlook version and the sort
order specified for the address book would be a minimum.

Okay, well it's Outlook 2007, but I was having the same problem with Outlook
XP(03). Also, I didn't know you could specify a sort order for the Address
Book (From the Outlook Help...Names in the Address Book dialog box always
appear in alphabetical order. You cannot change this order.), I did specify
the Contacts be sorted Last name, First name. Once again, any help would be
appreciated, thanks for your interest in helping.

I suspect that you entered some manually and imported others. If so, the
imported ones are probably the ones that appear First Last.

I f I may weigh in to this, I recently upgraded from Outlook 2003 Standard to
Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager. Somehow, during the ttransfer of
the pst. files, I went from an address book that displayed all names as last,
first; to a mishmash of last, first, first, last. I went into Contacts and
changed all "Display As" entries that needed to be put back into the last,
first format but this did not fix the address book!.

Specify the sort order for the Address Book here:
Tools > Accounts >Address Book Tab > Outlook Address Book > Change...

I have Windows Mail that came with Vista. How do I change all my contacts
from first names first to first names last?
