Got an address book on an external usb drive, and another with different
content on my desktop pc in OE.

Is there a simple way to merge the content of the two without futzing
anything up? Or, do I have to do item-by-item?

Open both address books side by side.
Select/hilite either single or multiple contacts in on book.
Drag/drop the contacts into the other book.

The experts in an Outlook Express newsgroup would
be able to tell you if you posted your question there.

Importing the contents of name1.wab into name2.wab will not futz up anything
in name2.wab.

Copy name1.wab from the USB drive to your HDD (suggest desktop for
convenience) > Remove any Read Only attribute the file might have > Open
name2.wab > File > Import > Address Book (WAB) > Point the wizard to the
desktop & Bob's your uncle.
