Spoke too soon.
The work around works as I said, BUT MS Word and Excel do no function
properly. So, I went ahead and used the Registry modification option.
As someone else pointed out, if you copy the value directly from Stephen Hui
post you should paste it into a text editor first to remove any extraneous
characters.
The text editor I use is the great FREE "Programmer's File Editor for
Windows NT".
