I like to use the address bar to navigate to drives and folders on my
network. Lately the address bar seems to clear out my text - while I'm
typing. I can't get my whole location typed most times before it clears out.
It appears to be cleaning itself out every 10 seconds. I can't type that fast
and I would like the address bar to stop deleting my typing before I am
finished. Incidentally, I have already removed all my drive mappings - no
luck. And the Internet Explorer address bar does not have the same problem.

I am having the same problem and have been for some time now. I just set up a
new computer with a fresh install of windows and guess what? Same problem!!!
The only thing I have installed is besides window, is Hamachi. I'm about to
uninstall to see if this solves it, so I'm curious if you are using Hamachi
as well. I'll post if I get any results with this.

Problem:
When editing the address bar in an explorer window the text reverts to the
original text after a few seconds.

Cause:
In my case, the solution was to disable my VPN software(Hamachi). Not a very
good solution, but at least I've isolated the problem. From what I've read,
other VPN clients can cause this issue as well and it happens when the client
refreshes it's network address which, sometimes is as often as every 5
seconds.

Hope this helps you guys out. This has been driving me crazy for quite some
time now!!

turbojambox, thanks for your reply. I was excited to read this because I was
encouraged that it might be the answer. But it has not turned out to be true
for me. I was running Hamachi and on your advice, I exited the program, but
still had the Address Bar problem. Do I have to uninstall Hamachi? or just
exit?

Exiting the program alone won't do it, you have to open your network
connections and right-click on the hamachi adapter and select "disable".
Unfortunately, I have not found a work-around for this yet as it is a bit
inconvenient to disable the Hamachi adapter(I use it alot). If that doesn't
work, try disabling all of you network connections as a test. good luck.

turbojambox, you were right-on. Disabling the Hamachi adapter stops the
problem for me also. I researched this issue quite a bit online and saw one
Hamachi employee state that it "could not" be caused by Hamachi. The other
person respectfully disagrees, and now so do I. I use Hamachi a lot also - so
a different solution is preferred. Nevertheless, I am happy to have an
explanation and a work around. Thanks!
