What "patch" did you try?

Did you check the Registry with Regedit and see if you had a
restriction called "NoAddressBar"?
(NoAddressBar disables the address bar)
If there, then remove it.
It is most likely in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Restrictions

system certs, disallow, trust, trusted...please advise
Thanks

Lisa,

Try a search in Regedit but if you used a patch, then surely you have
that patch downloaded or at least you have history of the sites you
have been to. (I assume it was recently)

OK. I just downloaded that but I cannot test it (I don't use XP) and I
cannot see exactly what it does, being a .exe file.

Can you restate your problem in more detail?
Is it the whole Address Bar as I assumed in my previous reply (perhaps
wrongly) or just the window in the Afddress Bar?

If you see the smallest piece of the Address Bar (usually the name)
then stretch the Address bar back to a normal size and move it if
necessary. If the Button Bar or some other bar is to the right of it,
you may want to move that to a different position first.

Don't forget to ensure "Lock the Toolbars" is unchecked in
View-Toolbars.
