When I open IE (I'm using version 6.029) and it opens my home page, I browse
to another site, but the url being displayed in the address bar still shows
the url of my home page. This occurs with many other pages I browse to, but
apparently not all, since I do see the correct url on the Microsoft pages.
This is a new problem. I can't seem to find anything in preferences or
settings that fixes this. Any ideas?

Delete your IE history. That may assist.
