When I type in an address into the address bar the system stops. I can jump
around using my favorites. But not to any new sites using the address bar.
It seemed to happen after my last Microsoft update.
How can I fix this??
Thanks

I had problem after an automatic update April 17, so restored back to April
15 and problem went away. Auto update this am has caused the same problem
again, so I guess restore to April 15th, but then what ever the update was
trying to deal with will be lost. Maybe MS could come up with a fix

See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165
"Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install
security update MS06-015".
[THX Robear]: the Registry edit referenced in Resolutions section of 918615
above can be implemented by downloading:
HP's Share-to-Web software - Fix (Line 383, Right)

Sounds like you've been hit by problems caused by MS06-015

Info and various links/downloads here:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks.../17/91304.aspx

Please note that Kelly's registry file only works under limited
circumstances, that is, if the originally noted problematic software is
installed.

Hi Dave,
In other words...
If running Windows XP and IE6, these problems are probably being caused by
the MS06-015 Update (Released April 11.) Usually (for example) www.yahoo.com
won't work but
http://www.yahoo.com will connect. Clicking on a Favorite will work.

If you have HPs Share to Web software installed, download and run the VBS
file "HP's Share-to-Web software - Fix " at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Line 383.

If Share to Web is not installed, that fix doesn't work, or simply to read
more, see:
http://www.aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=19125

Hope this helps,
Don
