I use IE 6.0 on XP Home. When I click the drop-down arrow on the Address
Bar, even after clearing the history, multiple items continue to appear on
the drop-down list. I cannot find where they are stored. How do I remove
those entries?

Those entries are stored in the registry. If you're not comfortable editing
the registry, use this free tool: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/

This article shows you where they are in the registry:

Thank you very much for that insight.
Can you also explain WHY certain entries are recorded in the Registry and
others aren't?

URLs from a link are not recorded, URLs from a favorite are not recorded, only typed in URLs are
recorded.
