I have a IP subset 203.195.112.62 to 203.195.112.120. The subnet mask is
255.255.255.0. I am running a Win2000 DNS server on my network. I add a
new zone to the DNS server, say ( abc.com ) and also I have created a
112.195.203.in-addr-arpa zone. I have added a A record to the domain name
zone ( says, www A 203.195.112.70 ) as well as the PTR record to the
in-addr-arpa zone.

Everything is well. When I lookup the domain name in the DNS server, it can
successfully resolve the IP address. However, when I use reverse-lookup the
IP address, it returns NONE an error message " Unable to resolve
203.195.112.70 " .

I do not have any idea what I have done wrong. Please kindly advise.

Thanks,
Chris

Has your ISP delegated teh 112.195.203.in-addr.arpa zone to your DNS?

This would only work if you EITHER had the delegation above OR your
were asking the DNS server holding this zone directly.

Also.. are we sure the "in-addr.arpa" zone was created as
a REVERSE zone and not as a FORWARD one ;-D ?
