Additional Windows Themes

I upgraded my computer last year from Win98 to WinXP
using an educational copy of WinXP I got from my
University. I did a complete format, starting fresh.
When I did so, I had additional Windows themes I could
use - like 60s era, michael angelo, dangerous animals.
The themes included sounds, icons, etc.

Last week, my hard drive went belly up and I had to buy a
new one. I installed WinXP and this time, no additional
themes. When I "browse the CD", I don't see an option to
add the themes.

My question is: how do I get to them??

I do not think these themes are included with WinXP. I'm on Win-2000
right now, and I had to manually copy all the theme files to the
proper location. Also, I don't have the Control Panel icon for themes
like I did under Win98. I have to go to my Run box, and type "themes"
to select/activate *Dangerous Creatures*, etc.

I think WinXP also has the themes.exe file lurking in it's folder.

I manually copied all themes file (from my Win98 computer) to:
C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes

Good Luck,
- Winfield

A couple more thoughts here: I DID have the additional
themes the first time I used this CD. It's the Pro
version. When I used it the second time, I didn't get an
option to customize my install.

Thanks for the tip. I might try your suggestion if I
can't figure it out!

I suspect you must buy the PLUS disk. Search your seller of choice
for a box called "Windows XP Plus."

Thank you for trying to help, but I think you are
misunderstanding me. I HAD the themes on my computer
using the WinXP Pro CD that I already have. I was using a
theme the day my hard drive died. I bought a new hard
drive, installed WinXP from the SAME CD and no themes. I
thought maybe it was on the CD and installed via an
installation customization but didn't see it.

You said in the OP that you did an upgrade, the themes would then be there from the 98 install. In the same post you wrote "complete format", the themes then would not be there. What did you do originally?

BTW is Michelangelo not "michael angelo".

Those themes that the OP missed are from either win98 or the 98 Plus!
package. When she did the upgrade it carried over to xp. Once she did
a new install those themes are no longer available. She would have to
either look for the plus.cab files on her win98 cd and expand them to
the xp installation and then use the theme service to integrate them
into the system.

I suppose I could have been more clear in my original
message. I upgraded my computer from Win98 to WinXP, but
when I did so, I did a complete reformat.

Thank you for the clarification on Michaelangelo.

Nope. Michaelangelo Buonarroti was his full name. I believe the correct
spelling is without the a, Michelangelo
