Select the area that you want to shift down (to make room for the new
rows), right click and select Insert..., select "Shift cells down",
click OK and you are done.

Hope this helps / Lars-Åke

hi
if i understand you, no.
you can insert cells which would shift data down but the rows must be a
uniform heighth all the way across the sheet. you can't have multiple row
heighths. the same applies to column widths.

I want to insert some raws but dont want raws go out some certain region of
the sheet..so the only way something like a "scroll bar" should appear inside
the excel...this is very much like when u have piece of excel in ms word
page. When u double click on that excel pice immediately scroll bar appears.

Sorry, I misread your question.
I have no idea how to do what you describe.

Hi,

You can't duplicate that behavior in Excel. You can fake it though by
inserting a Control Toolbox Textbox. You will find these by choosing View,
Toolbar, Control Toolbox. Click the Textbox tool, hold down the Alt key and
drag in the spreadsheet. Then click the Properties button and set the
ScrollBars property to 2 - frmScrollBarsVertical and set the MultiLine
property to True.

Exit Design Mode and try it out.

If this helps, please click the Yes button

Cheers,

hi
now you seem to asking if you can have a sheet within a sheet.......no on
that too.
you can add cells which would be like part of a row but that's it.
the scroll bar feature you mentioned.....this feature is not available in
excel that i am aware of.

Thank you all for you replies... I just describe my situation and u advise..
may be u think some more clever solution.
I have a daily report where on the left side of the sheet there is list of
personnel.lets say from row 5 up to row 15. before and after row 5 and 15
there is some other data. Now on the right side of the sheet I have the
same interval to work from row 5 up to row 15, but sometimes it is necesary
to insert 20, 25 activities each in its own raw. I could insert many rows and
then merge them on left side to have 10 names in each row and 25 activities
in each row on right side... but there are 100 workers and each day doing
this job is disaster. So how could I fit let say 25 activities each in its
row when I have totatly 10 initial rows area.

Also suppose I would like to assign a filter... I have people on the left,
then activities on the right, and finaly the percentage of the job done. If I
filter to remove zero % done it will eat the rows where I have put zeros,
but on these raws are people on the left... so I u ubderstand my issue what
would u all recomend?

Thanks very much...I need solution to this

Hi,

Apple puts out a spreadsheet that allows a sheet within a sheet. I hope
Microsoft's not listening!

I've just created a workbook "Scroll Workbook Custom List" that allows
one to specify the area in which to display a separate list of data.
You can scroll (display), for instance, a list of 60 items in a
range of only ten cells.
If you want to experiment with the workbook (it's free) - send a email request.
Remove xxx from my email address... (E-Mail Removed)XX.
Those responding using a real name and supplying some indication of where
in the world they are located will get the workbook.
