Additional Hard Drive not given a drive letter

A friend of mine had his hard drive die on him. I tok it
and popped it in as a slave in my computer. The BIOS sees
it just fine. Under the device manager, it sees it. But it
does not get assigned a drive letter.

I go into Computer Management to find the drive to assign
it a letter but it's not listed. What's going on?? The
BIOS sees it, Windows 2000 sees it in the Device Manager
but I can't give it a drive letter??
