Despite following straightforward Microsoft Office Online instructions
including first importing the Word document into the folder list, I still
cannot open the document with the link and get this message on the File
Download screen: "The file you are downloading cannot be opened by the
default program." What do I need to do to open the document from the link?

Can you provide a URL to the page with the link to the Word document?

Yes, and thanks for your interest, Mr. Rowe. The URL is
<www.campfanninrollofhonor.com/index.htm>, which opens the home page, where
linking text is "Individual profiles of members are available."

The document opened fine for me. Windows XP Pro, Firefox 1.5.0.9 and MS
Word 2002 SP3.

> Thanks to you, Mr. Wolf. Hopefully the document is opening for other people, too. Not for me yet, though. My print is Windows XP Home, IE 7, and MS Word 2003 (not certain about the Service Pack).

My Word document now opens readily (if slowly), without my having done
anything. Somebody did something to help me out and it might have been
Thomas A. Rowe, Microsoft MVP - FrontPage. Thanks, Mr. Rowe, and thanks to
Paul S. Wolf, too, for his interest.
