Adding USB scanner to ASPI device list

In Win9x, SCSI and also parallel-port devices with SCSI minipiort driver
are automatically routed to the ASPI layer (and also available for ASPI
access from the DOS box).

I have SCSI and PP scanners which work fine through ASPI.
I also have an USB version of the same scanner model (and I know from
linux, that there is no difference in the command structure).
Unfortunately, the manufacturer only delivers INF files to attach the
USB scanner to the Still Image Layer (STI) of Win98.

Is there any way to add the USB devices to the ASPI layer? I know that
only certain USB devices can be accessed with SCSI commands, these USB
scanners definitely can. But windows will not accept them as ASPI
devices and therefore will not pass ASPI commands to them.

Does anyone know what to add to the registry or whatever else to make
them appear in the ASPI device list?
