Adding up totals from a list of users

's Computer Specifications

I have a list... which has a persons name.. and then value in the cell to
the right...

a person name might be in the list upto 5 times.... and it needs to total
them up...

Is there any easy function for excel to look up the list... *about 300
entries...* and to give a list of all the names... and their totals?

Check the typo, should be
=SUMIF(A:A,"John",B:B)
