Is there a way to take one transition and add it to the whole clip without
pasting it to every picture?

Yes

Change to Storyboard view. Select all the transition boxes in the storyboard
(small rectangles between two clips). This can be done by clicking on the
first one and shift-clicking on the last one. Or by pressing Ctrl-A to
select all. Now right click on the Transition you are interested in and
select Add to Storyboard.
