I have 3 grouping categories A, B and C

For each grouping I have a running total next to each item listed under each
grouping.

How can I take the last number from the running total and have it show next
to my grouping headers?

For example: A = 3, B=2, C=5

I can't use anything like =Count(*) because it counts every single entry
rather than the entries I need it to count.

Can anyone help with this?

Do you mean that if your data was this --
A 1
A 2
B 1
B 4
A 1
You want this --
A 1
B 4
or --
A 4
B 5
