Adding/subtracting windows components after sp3

Once the OS (win XP pro) has had sp3 installed, I wonder if the
normal way of adding/subtracting the windows components like fax,
media player...etc needs to be handled differently.

The dialog asks for the windows installation cd to be inserted but I
think I recall some talk somewhere suggesting that some components are
different once sp3 has been installed and maybe I need to aim the
component dialog somewhere else.

Anyone know if there is any reason not to use the original disc for
adding windows components once sp3 is installed?
