adding shapes to master slide

I am trying to create a master slide that has arrows on it. I am just using
the powerpoint shapes for the arrows. I placed them on my Master Title
slide, but when I go back to my actual presentation, the arrows don't show
up. If I create a new slide, they are there. They just aren't added to the
slides I've already made. (I also created a background in the master slide
and it is working on all of my presentation.) Any ideas of what could be
causing the shapes to show up on new slides and not my old ones?

Which version of PPT are you using? 2007 or 2003?

Does that slide use the title slide layout?

Oh, and have you opted to hide background graphics on that slide?
