We have a couple of ticketing stations at work that use the simple LOGON.SCR screensaver. It is such a pity to see the W2K Pro logo floating on these idle machines. I mean, I'm not knocking Windows, but the screensaver should really be our corporate logo. I've designed a new screensaver using our corporate logo and need to know how to deploy it. Let's call this new screensaver NET.SCR.
The stations are built by RIS and have a GPO enabled that locks practically everything down except the ticketing touchscreen program. The name of the screensaver to use is enabled in the "ticketing" OU GPO and is defined as "LOGON.SCR".
Perusing the RIS image, I find the "LOGON.SC_" ready to be extracted, copied and deployed. I figure the easiest thing for me to do, the thing that will upset the standard operating procedures the least, would be to:
a.) Rename my NEW.SCR as LOGON.SCR.
b.) Compress my LOGON.SCR to a LOGON.SC_
c.) Replace my LOGON.SC_ with the original version on the RIS image machine.
That being said:
How do I compress a *.XXX to a *.XX_ file? I mean I've used EXTRACT a billion times, but what's its opposite?
