adding .Net to Embedded XP runtime image

Hello,
I have been sent some devices loaded with the embedded XP runtime image, and
have been given the task of installing the .Net framework on the devices.

I first tried running the windows update from the devices, but I got an
error "Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make
sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer."

I then tried running DotNetFx.exe and received the following errors in
order:

Internal Error 2908. {7D4B5591-4C80-42BB-B0E5-F2C0CEE02c1A}
Internal Error 2908. {another key}
Internal Error 2908. {another key}
Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly
component {FF766460-2F2B-4ADE-8E9B-781040797C80} HRESULT: -2147319761

Is there any way to get around these errors and add .Net to the device
without having to rebuild the image (this is not an option)?

Thank you for your help,
Lauren Hines

If you can't get support from company that gave you XPe image then you are
probably out of luck.

It can be done. (Everything can be done). But depending on your current
image it may be more difficult and time consuming than creating new image
from scratch.

It is possible to load the .NET framework onto embedded using the
DotNetFx.exe setup program. However it will only work if the original
image was built with the correct components.

The only easy solution to your problem is to get the image re-built
and ideally with the .NET framework already on it.

Unfortunately having the image re-built is not an option for us. Could you
let me know what the 'hard' solution is to installing the .NET framework?

Thanks,
Lauren
