Adding native applications to my Computer Management console.

Folks:


I have a question about the Computer Management utility that is a part of my
Windows 2000/XP platform.

Is there a way to add local application to the Computer Management console
as nodes ?. Here is my reason for asking.

Before I installed SQL 2000 on my XP machine, my Computer Management utility
did not have an SQL 2000 node. After installing SQL 2000, I noticed that I
the SQL node appeared in the Computer Management Utility. This forces me to
ask the next obvious question


Can I add other local applications (already installed on my computer) to
the Computer Management console ?

The SQL snap-in probably appeared because its programmers developed it to
support MMC (Microsoft's Management Console).

John, it depends on the kind of application. The computer management utility
is just a kind of application called snap-in wich is written to be plugged
into MMC (Microsoft Management Console). The MMC is a framework aimed at
creating a common interface for all administration applications. Any
application, service or task for wich an administration console (snap-in) is
written may be plugged into MMC. Snap-ins for MMC use the extension .msc
