Hi, I am having problems adding a flash (.swf) file to my presentation. I
go to view/toolbars/visual basic, click on the control box, drag out the
place holder for "shockwave flash object" right click to bring up properties
and I get stuck on the part where I enter full path of the movie. An example
I tried was c:/my documents/cyndi's documents/my pictures/filename.swf

Is this not right? Help with this please.

I swear, I hate "my documents." It's so buried, and it seems that the full
path is halfway to impossible to find. Just recently I worked with someone
on another forum who was convinced that his path to a multimedia file was
shorter than 128 characters. Once I found out he'd saved his files to his
"my documents" folder, it was easy to see why he thought that.

Try C:\Documents and Settings\Echo\My Documents\the-rest-of-the-path

Of course, replace "Echo" with your user name on your system.

I'd actually recommend just moving the SWF to a folder on your C drive to
make things easier. C:\SWFs might be a good place. :-)

Hello, it's me agian, lfranker. You seem to be a goo-roo. Once again, I
need to tap into your expertise. Although, I don't know why this is
happening to me because I have imported my .swf files many of times and did
not have this problem. The first time I launch my slide show it plays my
..swf file fine. When I go to play it again, even if I close the presentation
and open it, It does not play the entire movie. I tried to set Loop to
"False". That did not help. Any ideas? Or anyone else, feel free to jump
in.

Oh, yeah, I've had this happen, but off the top of my head I can't tell you
what's going on with it. I can tell you a couple of ways to fix it, though!

One is to use PFCMedia, as Austin suggested. http://www.pfcmedia.com

The other is to use Shyam's free FlashBack add-in.
http://skp.mvps.org/flashback.htm You'd need to have this installed on the
system that's showing the presentation.

I have got the answer!!!! I was having the exact same problem and it was
driving me nuts because half of my presentation was in flash and everytime I
had to turn back on every flash embedded frame.

Then I realized. What is the first thing that you do after embedding a
flash movie into a slide? You play it to make sure it works, right! Okay,
then it works. And it automatically (with out us seeing) turns the play to
"false". But we don't think about that, we just go right ahead and save it.
We have been saving all of our flash movies with the play function on
"false". So if you go and save your embedded flash movies' play function to
"true" and then with out playing it first save your Presentation then it
saves on "true" and will come up that way the next time you open your
presentation.

The only thing you have to be careful of is after you play the presentation
it changes it back to false automatically again and so when you exit it will
usually ask you if you want to save changes. Well if you do than you are
saving it again to "false" so be sure you either change the play function
back to "true" before saving any other changes or just say "no" to the save
if you didn't make any changes yourself that you want to save.

This is weird but makes sense a little when you think about it.
