Adding extra harddisk

A few weeks ago I added a second harddisk to a PC running
XP home.
Formated the drive and give it a drive letter, works okay
no problems.

However every time the machine is restarted it displays
'New hardware found please insert installation disk'.
If a press cancel I can use the pc as normal, including
the new drive. Thought no more of it.

I have now swapped out the CD writer for a DVD writer (
making sure the jumpers are okay for slave/ master.

I now get two lots new 'hardware found', and both drives
work fine.

How can I get rid of the messages.

cheers
