Adding "domain" functionality to XP in peer-to-peer HOW?

I want to add some networking capabilities to a friend's home
peer-to-peer network that's similar to our office domain (i.e. Power
Users group, the ability to connect and share resources easily, etc.)

Is this possible (to similate a domain in this peer-to-peer lan?) If
so, what do I need to do? I had actually thought of bringing the boxes
into our lab and joining them to our LAN then just unjoin them. I know
the account groups still exist. But is there a better way to do this?
I've searched the internet but I haven't found any clues to this yet.
