You want to use Active Directory Sites and Services to create a site based on a
subnet. AD computers will always try to first logon to a domain controller in it's
site. Of course the dc needs to be set up correctly and registered in dns including
_srv records so that the domain computers can find it. Running netdiag and dcdiag on
a domain controller can tell a lot about it's configuration being correct or not. ---
