If I were to create an interactive PowerPoint presentation
that had a sign-in slide to identify the user and had
slides with multiple choice questions that would link them
to either a "congratulations" slide or a "try again"
slide, would it be possible to add a "counter" to count
each correct answer?

Yes, as long as you are willing to write some VBA code. Though, I
imagine you already using code to keep track of the name of the person
running the presentation.
