Adding a Computer to Home Network

My brother and I have two PC running Windows XP Home
edition. Using an Ethernet Switch and the connection
wizard we networked the two together, selecting the option
without an internet connection. However, we would like to
add the family computer to the Network, and if possible
share that internet connection. We plugged it into the
Ethernet Switch, and ran the wizard, but it wont
communicate with the other computers. It says the
connection is working properly. It is the exact same type
as the other two computers (they were purchased together
as part of a deal.) also, one of the computers sees the
icon for the family computer in My Network Places, but it
still wont communicate with it. The other doesnt even
recognize it. please post help, or email to

John,

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in
Notepad, copy and paste into your next post. Indicate the problematic computer.

Please describe your internet connection also. Is it thru one of the computers?
Or thru the switch?

Learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself a bit safer when
posting to open forums. Protect yourself and the rest of the internet - never
post your address unmunged.

Cheers,
Chuck

John,

Chuck already gave you some good advice. Here's a link that
could also help in some cases. It is a good idea to reply with
more information, also describe the kind of Internet connection
you use.

One suspicion is that the firewall is activated on a LAN
connection, but it should only be activated on the outgoing
Internet connection, never on a local connection.
