Adding and viewing "Comments" to TIFF file

I used the Windows Explorer functionality: File – Properties – Summary –
Comments to enter descriptions into 1,000+ TIFF files that I created by
scanning 35mm slides. The descriptions I entered appear to NOT be visible in
any application, other than Windows Explorer.

To make matters worse, when I edit the TIFF file in Adobe Photoshop Elements
and save the edited image, the Comments appear to get deleted.

Would you please tell me how I can get the “Comments” to be visible in
standard TIFF file metadata.

Also, I recently downloaded and installed the newly released add-in to
Windows Explorer “Photo Info”. When I use that product to enter Description
(Comments) detail, Windows Explorer does not display that data in any of the
“details you want to display” listed when you right-click on the column
headings. Would you please tell me how to get Windows Explorer to display the
Description / Comment I enter using “Photo Info”.

I am running Windows XP Home SP2 with all current patches available from
“Windows Update”.

I guess this question is too difficult for the people on this Discussion.
Does anyone know of a Discussion where people know a bit more?

Regards
