You cannot seriously expect us to be able to help you with so little
information.

Off the top of my head, it sounds like you should examine the Northwind
database that ships with Access, and have a look at the "Orders" and "Order
Details" table

You should be able to use an expression to calculate the total of an order
based on the unit price and quantity.

This is an MS Access group not an Excel group.

Homer,

What makes you so sure that the OP is not using Access? They might very
well be using Excel, as you have assumed. On the other hand, they might be
using Access, in which case they have an incorrect database design. My only
input to you is don't jump to conclusions as to what software the OP is using.

I see. While you may be correct in your guess, I think you're still making a
big assumption.

20+ years of supporting end users? I'll stick with my guess until proven
wrong.

Perhaps you've been listening to your son, Bart, too much. I think your
daughter, Lisa, might have wiser advice for you.

By the way, you're not the only one who has 20+ years supporting end users.

My guess is the OP is using Access as if it is Excel. He/she is confusing
"columns" with "fields" and probably has an un-normalized table structure
which creates a need to sum across fields rather than across records. (25
years of supporting end users)

IMO too many posters read the name of this group as Microsoft (public
access) instead of Microsoft Access (public). So they think that this is the
first (or last) place to ask anything Microsoft or PC related. How many even
know that Access is the name of the DB product?
