When adding RAM, does the order in the slots make any difference? I
currently have 256 in DIMM0, 512 in DIMM1, and 256 in DIMM2. Is it more
efficient to have the largest (512) in DIMM0, or is it all so transparent
and seamless that it doesn't matter?

It really depends on your motherboard. The best way to insure a
problem-free RAM purchase and installation is to read your motherboard
manual. If you don't have the manual, go to the m/b mftr.'s website.
