In our W2K network with Win2003 server, we want to add a few XP-clients.
Is that wise?? Or would you advise to use just one OS in a Windows network?

btw Users use roaming profiles and will work with the W2K ánd XP clients.

Thanks

There are not any adverse effects of adding XP clients to the network.
I would recommend upgrading all client to XP but they all do not have
to be the same OS.

You can add XP Pro clients with no problem. In fact, with W2K in it's waning
support cycle, upgrading a few at a time seems like a good way to stretch
out the costs.

Thanks Chris.
So, information I have had about conflicting roaming profiles are just
rumours?

I have never had any problems with this. Roaming and Mandatory profiles
in a mixed environment they should perform normally.

Since you started with W2K clients with roaming profiles and they are
currently working you should not have any problems. If you had started
with XP clients and added W2K clients problems could arise as there are
Policy settings that will only work with XP in 2003 Server.

Hope this helps,
psg
