Hi

I want to add an User defined field to the Outlook mail folders, I
want the functionality like Message Read or Unread to ensure whether
the mail item has been accessed by my VBA or not.

That sounds like you want not to add a field to the folder, but to add a
column for an existing field to the view. Do that by modifying the View.XML
for the desired view.
