,While on the phone to MS Tech Support, he asked me to use add/remove
programs. We nearly gave up, but after 10 minutes it finally finished. Other
than memory issues, any theories on how to speed this up? I'm using Windows
XP Home, SP2 on Compaq Presario 6000 with two internal drives of 85 gigs
each. Thx.

Recently after I downloaded spyblaster the same thing happened to me.
Add/remove programs takes about 3-5 minutes now where before it populated in
less than 1 minute. I notice a few other slow issues but Spyblaster is
working so well I'll live with it. I already use spycatcher and ad-ware plus
others but they don't prevent just remove. Now I realize programs that
prevent/protect will slow things a bit but that is OK with me.

Anyway don't know if you have downloaded any software recently that actively
monitors and PREVENTS issues from installing on your computer but if so that
could be why.

Thanks. I have Antispy MS Defender. Don't know if it's at fault.
