My laptop runs WinXP SP3. Is there any way to do a search in Add-Remove
Programs? As far as I can tell, CTRL-F doesn't work. I also can't figure out
how to simply copy the list, short of using multiple screenshots, so I can
look at it carefully. (The issue is whether various Windows Updates have
been installed. I keep getting AU reminders to install what I've already
installed, and it would be easier to check them if I could do a search or
even copy the list.)

Among other things this free program will tell you what MS updates are
installed and/or needed. (no more screenshots needed)

Windows update site has a feature to look & tell you which ones are
installed and which are not, and even indicates if they are ones you
told it to quit offering you. Handy.

Hi Jo-Anne,

Make sure the "show updates" is checked at the top of the dialog box.
You can then see the updates installed also.

If you keep getting the same reminders, set AU to notify you rather than
automatically update. Then you can select the Custom option and see
what update it is. Give AU the okay to download, then give it the okay
to install. When the shield goes to the System Tray, dbl-click it so
you can watch the installation and see if it completes or fails. It
could be one update failing to install and is presented each time you
boot up.

Thank you, Terry! I do have Updates checked. It's just that so many of them
read the same that it would be nice to be able to do a Find on the KB
numbers to know for sure. The odd thing about the last few days is that most
of the second batch of updates I was notified about were different from the
others. But a couple were the same and supposedly had already installed
successfully. The latest AU shield update--which Windows Update didn't
show--finally went away on its own.

In the future, I'll look at the Update log at Windows Update...

Thank you, Mike! That's an incredible program. The things I found out about
my new computer are scary. I'm up-to-date on everything offered by
Microsoft, but the CIS score on that computer is terrible. I'll need to look
into what I should do. (My old computer runs XP Home, so the CIS rating
doesn't work on it.)
