Add/Remove Programs are missing

help, ....I just opened Add/Remove programs to find that almost all my programs have gone missing. It's showing 9 installed programs, I have around 40 installed programs, and they were all listed before. I ran a virus scan and everything seems clean, I haven't changed anything in my system recently so I'm baffled? I'm using XP/SP1 with all critical updates. Any help appreciated.
