Subject: Add/Remove Programs gives error
Date: November 11, 2003 18:11

Executing the A/R Programs item results in a window
opening with an error message:

An unexpected error occurred.

Object doesn't support this property or method
res://sp3res.dll/default.hta
Line: 82

Any suggestions how to fix this situation?

Thanks,

Colin

Hi

From the "Run" box try

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\appwiz.cpl

and
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\webvw.dll

and
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\mshtml.dll

If this doesn't help, in the German newsgroup, one person fixed the
same type of error by reinstalling IE

The article above also tells you how to repair Internet Explorer 6.0

See tip 6032 at http://www.jsiinc.com/reghack.htm as well

If this doesn't help, try to reinstall the OS service pack you already have
installed (or install a newer one if possible).

If the problem persists, you'll could do an in-place upgrade of the OS and see
if it helps:

After working through Step 3 of 266668 (the simpler items didn't resolve the issue) without success I reinstalled IE6 SP1. This seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Colin
