Hoping someone can help me on this.

I have some programs I want to remove, however when I click on "Add/Remove
Programs," it populates only a partial list, and the button to click to
proceed with the removal of a program is missing. I've tried restarting, but
it hasn't helped. Please, if someone knows the solution, please let me know.
Cheers!

Add/Remove buttons
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/arp.htm

Also see the many suggestions here:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm Scroll down to
"Add and Remove -Removing Invalid Entries in the Add/Remove Programs Tool".

There are other suggestions above that one.

Thanks for the tips Joe, but unfortunately none of them will actually work
in this case because when I get to the Uninstall portion, any programs
formerly added do not show up. Only the newly added programs show up under
"Uninstall."

Hi Jack

Are the newly-added programs the *only* entries under the registry
Uninstall key? Do you have any entries that are long strings of numbers
and letters within a pair of curly braces { } ?

If you do, click on each one in turn and look in the right pane for the
DisplayName entry. That will tell you which program it is.

Hi Nightowl,

Actually, the newly installed programs are the only one's listed under the
Uninstall option. There is nothing else listed besides the one newly
installed program. I spent about two hours with a Dell tech support guy one
night, and he said he used the Microsoft suggested solutions, and they didn't
work. Somehow each of the downloaded programs SHOULD show up under this
list, but none but the only recent program installed actually does show up.

And of course when I use Add/Remove programs, it doesn't generate all of the
downloaded programs, and on the partial list it doesn't give me the boxes to
press to proceed with the uninstall.

Hi Jack

That is weird. . . it would seem something has zapped your Uninstall
keys, which is rather worrying. However, for the immediate problem of
getting rid of the programs you don't want, I'd suggest re-installing
them (though that probably sounds backwards!) Hopefully then you'll have
the proper entries under the Uninstall key and can then remove them.
