Add/Remove components problem

I had a missing IE exe so I used Add/Remove components to put it back;
but after that, all my Windows Accessories were gone like MS paint and
Wordpad.

I used Add/Remove Components to reload the accessories (I had to
insert the Windows CDROM).
At that point, the iexplore.exe file disappeared again!

When I use AddRemove Components, I make sure only the one thing is
checked - only IE or only Accessories - do you know why I can't have
both at the same time??

Thanks.

I just fixed it by going to Add/Remove Components and checking both
Accessories and Internet Explorer. Now I have both.

That dialog box was confusing because I thought if an element was not
checked, then it would do nothing to it.

But now my Windows Media Player is gone!!

Apparently if something is unchecked on that list, that means to
remove that thing. The help pages do not say this will happen. They
just say a checked item will be added or removed.

That dialog box was confusing because I thought if an element was not
checked, then it would do nothing to it. Am I missing something or
should they explain it better, or should an unchecked item just remain
on your system?
