In OL 2003, I could right click on a task list in public folders and Add to
Favorites, and it would appear under "My tasks". When I try this in OL 2007,
it gives me the dialog asking how to name it, but does NOT put in under "My
tasks". Where did it go?

try resetting the nav bar file by starting outlook with the /resetnavpane
switch.
