I am using Microsoft Exchange Server for my email and Outlook 2003. I
have one .pst file showing up with my name at the root, and it
contains all of my current email (Inbos, Sent Items, Deleted Items,
Drafts, Outbox). I have another folder called "2006" that ties to a
file on my local computer called"2006.pst". This folder is not
contained in an "archive folders" or "personal folders".

I am trying to create another folder that shows up at the same level
(not within an "archive folder" or "personal folder"). Every time I
try to create a new folder, it winds up inside "Archived Folders".

How can I get this new folder to show up at a higer level, like the
2006 folder?

Thanks,

I believe you will find that '2006' is simply the name for the 2006 personal
folders (pst)
or it could be that 2006 is an archive of 2006 data
Create a new data file & name it as you wish, eg 2007, if thats what you
want

And to create a new Outlook data file, use the File | New | Outlook Data File command.

Thanks, but that doesn't work. The new folder from the file (I have
one called 2007.pst) shows up in Outlook under the root folder
"Archive Folders". I want to get it to the same level in the folder
hierarchy as "Archive Folders".

Sue, I tried that and the added folder (from the creation of the
outlook data file) appears in the "Archived Folders" folder. I am
trying to understand how my folder "2006" stands at the same level in
the hierarchy as the "Archived Folders" folder, and then I want to do
it with new folders.

I think I got it. Duringthe Data File creation, there is a field where
I can enter the folder name, and I just give it the same name ("2007"
for example). That works!
