Recently I had problems with my Sony Vaio laptop and took
it to Best Buy for repair, they had to do a complete
system restore from the original disc supplied with my
Sony Vaio. Now, when I try to attach a new external USB
hard drive, I get the following messages in a Windows
Popup...."Cannot run two device installations....You can
only install one device at a time...Another device
installaction is underway, when it is finished, you can
try this installation again." Nothing else is being
installed and this message occurs every time I try to
access the Add New Hardware Wizard even if I don't have
the external drive plugged in. This was never a problem
before the restore. From what I have read on the web it
tells me that it is a common problem when ever the system
is restored from OEM restore discs, but, it doesn't tell
me how to correct it. I think this has something to do
with Sysprep or how it is run at the factory vs. how Best
Buy did the restore when the OS is loaded. I think the
system thinks it is in Factory mode. I also think
possibly it has something to do with a registry entry,
but, I know nothing about the registry. Can you tell me
how to correct this problem? Thanks for your help. Bob
