reen trying to add new hardware (a Nokia 6300 mobile phone), the 'Add new
hardware wizard' comes up with an error message that says "The name is
already in use as either a service name or a servcie display name".
What is this and what dio I have to do to eliminate what I assume is a
duplicate of something somewheer?

The Phone software and connection software is 100% up to date and the latest
available, and the phone is brand new

Extra info on this problem for anyone who looks at it:
1. After getting the error, I have looked at the setupapi.log file in
C:\Windows, where I can see that the porblem was causeded when trying to
create a servcie called "nmwcd". This seems to be linked to Nokia somehow.
However I can find no duplicates for this anywhere, not even in the Rgistyry.

Any ideas what nmwcd is all about?

2. Searching the M/S knowlege base and support sites for error code 1078
suggests that it can occur in several possible parts of Windows or add-ons
(e.g. including .NET Framework). So I need to find out which one is causing
the problem - but how do you do this?

Hope that helps.

google>>type>>nmwcd
There are several articles. You might find the answer there. Several
others did.
