Just did XP Home repair, so now need add printer over again. 'Printers and
Faxes' folder contains 3 printers listed(in fact, only one printer, just
listed 3 times) When run 'Add Printer Wizard', selected " A network printer,
or a printer attached to another computer" -> Browse for a printer -> does
not list network printers, only workgrougp name, my PC and storage.
I assume this due some windows settings, that prevent LAN network sharing,
how to fix this? (allow connection for printer only)

I'm assuming here that you have a networked printer that is directly
connected to the network with its own IP address? If so, where you
went wrong was selecting "A network printer or a printer attached to
another computer". You should select "Local Printer" instead. Then in
the next window, select "Create a new Port" and choose a port of type
"Standard TCP/IP Port". Then enter the IP address of the Printer and
go from there.

HTH,
John

have solved this already, yes that's what should I do. For the sake of
justice, the windows xp Printer Wizard instruction isn't too clear in this
case, so couldn't make it very easy. Following Wizard logic, I should choose
the "A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer", since
this is network printer(in local LAN), it *isn't connected* to my computer.

Thank you.
