I'm trying to update my video card drivers (Ati). The problem I'm having is
that after un-installing the old video drivers via the 'add/remove' app., it
tells me to reboot. After rebooting the 'Found new hardware wizard' shows up
in my taskbar and installs the outdated drivers for the card. I'm unable to
cancel out the 'Found new hardware wizard' so I can installed my newly
updated drivers I've downloaded. System is as follows:

Windows XP Media Center 2005 (fully updated) Service pack 2
Pentium D 930 3.0GHZ
1.5GB RAM
300GB HDD
DVD-RW/DVD-ROM
Sound Blaster Audigy SE
Ati X1300 256mb PCI-express

Just update them first. If the old ones still show after updating, then
uninstall them.

How do I stop/cancel the 'Hardware wizard' from installing drivers after a
re-boot. All my computer shows is the hardware wizard icon in the takbar,
clicking on it does nothing. Windows won't allow me to cancel the install.

Hi,

Try taking a different route than rebooting right off the bat.

Go through your Start menu, then Control Panel\System\Hardware\Device
Manager\ then click on your Display Adapters\Your Cards Name\ then a
right click on its properties. Now click on Driver\Update Driver and see
what happens.
