Thanks Terry,
As you predicted FactoryPreInstallationInProgress had a DWORD value of 1. I
deleted the key but that didn,t solve the problem. there was only one
instance in the registry.
SystemsetupInProgress was 0.
There is a file called HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Factory, which
contains a file called State. Do you confirm that I should delete Factory?
Also, while I was in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\SETUP, I noticed a key called
AuditInProgress with a DWORD value of 1. What about that? I think it probably
has something to do with a System Preparation tool window that came up when I
first booted the machine up after factory repair. I inadvertently clicked the
audit button and the window disappeared. Silly me! Should I change this value
to 0 or what?
Many thanks.
