I recently had a problem with my computer and had to create a new profile in
XP which means everything under "My Documents" was moved to my new profile.

Problem is, when I try to open any of my Frontpage webs in Frontpage now, I
get this pop-up message titled "Add Frontpage Information to the Folder":
Frontpage needs to add information to your folder in order to help manage
your Hyperlinks and other Web Site content. Do you want to add Frontpage
information to "c:\documents and settings\...

Whether I choose Yes or No, I get:

The URL "c:\documents and settings\..." is not contained within a Windows
SharePoint Services site.

Please help - I can't open any of my Frontpage webs under my new profile and
I don't know what else to do.

Thanks!

It sounds like moving the files from one profile to another has lost or
corrupted some files and folders that FrontPage uses to determine if a
folder is a website or not. FrontPage web sites should be Published
between locations, not copied (I appreciate that this may not have been
possible).

First, download FP Cleaner from
http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm
Run the routines that delete the hidden Web Cache files, and delete the
hidden Temporary files.

If this does not help, then this is more drastic (and assumes that your
web sites are in My Documents\My Webs folder):
These steps will remove all FrontPage meta data from your web sites.
All web sites will have to be republished completely.

Open My Documents in Windows Explorer, then search for files and folders
named _vti_* These are hidden, system folders so set the search to look
in those.

Delete these folders.

Open FrontPage, then use File->Open Site and browse to My Documents\My
Webs and open this folder. FrontPage will ask to convert it to a web
site by adding information - agree.
Look through the folders in this site, every folder that is a web site
or sub web right click and choose "Convert to web"
