right-click on a file with the .wpd extension, select "Open with..."
if Word is not on the list, select
"Choose default program"
click on "Browse"
go to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11 (or wherever his version is
located)
and select Winword.exe
make sure the box is checked for "Always use the selected program to open
this kind of file"
