Hi,
My Dell laptop is installed with Windows XP english version. It is
installed by the company's computer IT.

Now I want to add Chinese language support to windows. I go to
"Start"->"Control Panel"->"Reginal and Language Options"->"Languages",
I check "Install files for East Asian languages", there is a pop up
saying this requirement 230MB disk space and will be installed once I
click ok or apply.

I click off the pop up, I see that "Install files for East Asisa
languages" is checked. The problem is whatever ok or apply is clicked,
the check sign on this option is cleared right away, and I do not see
anything happen!

I am suspecting this is related to how originally the windows is
installed, maybe IT does not use the normal way like what we do to use
a CD to install windows? They may use some image to do that?

In this case how should I install the language support?

I do see in my C drive there is a directory called I386 and there are
a lot of files there which look like Windows installation files. And
there is I386/lang dirctory, a lot of files read like Each asias
language support.

But I do not know how to install them manually.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

You need to have administrative privileges to the local computer, and
you need to have the WinXP installation CD. In simple terms, contact
your IT department for assistance.
