I have a user who when composing an email in outlook 2003 sp2 and doing a
spell check cannot add a word to the dictionary. The option is greyed out.
How do I fix this?

Find the custom.dic file and verify it is not read only. If it is, that's
likely the problem. If it isn't, open it in notepad, do a File-Save as see
what the Character set is. There's a possibility that there's a bad
character in the file. Close out of notepad, rename the custom.dic file,
open it up, do a File - Save as to save it as Unicode then save it again as
ANSI.
